ADVAC is a two-week training programme for decision-makers, including academia, industry, governmental and non-governmental agencies. The Course aims to facilitate critical decision-making in vaccinology by providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the various aspects of vaccinology (immunology, vaccine development, clinical trials, regulatory processes, vaccine-specific issues including new vaccines, vaccination strategies and policies, programme implementation, humanitarian emergencies, social, economic, political and ethical issues, financing, and communications…).

Adam Finn

Adam Finn is Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Bristol and honorary consultant in paediatric infectious diseases and immunology at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Until December 2022 he was chair of the WHO European Region Technical Advisory Group of Experts (ETAGE) on Immunisation and continues to be a member of the WHO SAGE working group on COVID-19 vaccines. He is a member of the UK NITAG the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation and several of its subcommittees. He leads the Bristol Vaccine Centre, a clinical trials and translational research group and he coordinates the Bristol University COVID19 Emergency Research (UNCOVER) group.

His main research interests revolve around understanding mucosal immune responses to vaccines and how and why they induce indirect effects and how to quantify the burden of vaccine preventable diseases and the effectiveness of vaccines in the field. He also leads and supports numerous clinical trials of drugs and medicines in children and is involved in the development of a novel virus like particle vaccine platform being developed in Bristol.
